PIT Community @ University of Michigan

The Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) is a key member of the Public Interest Technology University Network. Their cross-cutting initiatives are shaped by Pillars such as “Responsible Research” to enhance scientific and societal impact. In this Pillar, MIDAS “collaborates with…researchers to develop foundational principles, methodology and tools, and deploy such tools for the ethical use of data and algorithms and to improve the reproducibility and replicability of scientific findings.” This work is notably framed around questions of Data Feminism, a term coined by MIT Associate Professor of Urban Science and Planning Catherine D'Ignazio and Lauren Klein. Other activities at MIDAS within the “Responsible Research” Pillar include: Responsible Data Science and AI, Data for Social Good, Data and Society community forum.
